According to Fox 5, citing Virginia State Police, a bear died after being hit by a car near the Pentagon. The bear was struck while trying to cross a busy highway between the U.S. Department of Defense building and residential areas in Arlington, a suburb of Washington, D.C., on Saturday. Police reported that they received a call from a driver who saw a dead bear on the side of I-395 North near exit 8C. When the officer arrived at the scene, he confirmed the bear was dead and contacted the Arlington Animal Control to respond and remove the body. At 5:48 PM on Saturday, state police received another call from a man who said he had hit the bear earlier that day but did not stop because he was feeling unwell. The man was not injured in the incident, and police stated that no charges would be filed against him.
