The International Boxing Federation, headed by Russian Umar Kremlev, is no longer among the international federations recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IOC removed the International Boxing Federation from its list of recognized international federations, with the decision made unanimously during an IOC session in Paris. Seventy members participated in the vote, with 69 voting in favor of revoking the recognition, and one voting against it. A decision was also made to keep boxing in the program for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
In 2019, the IOC temporarily withdrew recognition from the International Boxing Federation, citing allegations of failure to increase financial transparency and ensure the integrity of judges. The IOC called for reforms from the International Boxing Federation and excluded it from organizing the boxing tournament at the Tokyo Olympics held in 2021. Later, the IOC expressed doubts about the transparency of the management of the International Boxing Federation.
