In exclusive information about the details of the attack on the American embassy in Beirut, ongoing investigations revealed a connection between the gunman who attacked the embassy and "extremist" groups in Iraq. Phone data from the arrested perpetrator, Qais Al-Faraj, showed that he communicated with extremist groups in Iraq. Reports indicate that "the Syrian attacker, Qais Al-Faraj, who was hit by fire from the Lebanese army, sustained serious injuries during the clashes that erupted between both sides near the American embassy and is undergoing surgery at the military hospital in Beirut." It is noted that the American embassy in Lebanon was subjected to gunfire from "a person holding Syrian nationality," according to the Lebanese army. The army personnel deployed in the area responded to the sources of fire, resulting in the shooter being injured, apprehended, and transferred to a hospital. A Lebanese security source stated that the attacker, who resided in Majdal Anjar in the Beqaa region of eastern Lebanon, carried out the operation "alone," and added that security forces arrested his brother, father, and five other individuals known to him.
