"Dubai Roads" Launches Seasonal Network for Marine Transport Services

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has begun implementing the operational schedule for the "Seasonal Network" for marine transport services. This initiative aims to utilize big data to analyze daily passenger patterns, aligning them with trip schedules and frequencies according to various seasons and events. The initiative targets all operating marine transport services and routes (Ferry Dubai, Abra, Dubai Water Taxi), with adjustments made to their operating times in accordance with the nature of each season and the movement of residents, tourists, and visitors throughout the year. The operational schedules will be updated in coordination with the Business Development and Planning Department.

The seasonal network for marine transport services is characterized by institutional flexibility and operates with precision and efficiency in line with the nature of operating seasons, based on the well-studied plans established by the authority in this area and according to precise timetables, drawing on the best global practices in the field.

The authority has commenced the implementation of this plan for the summer season, leveraging big data that includes all relevant information about marine transport services, such as passenger numbers, revenues, and occupancy rates, with detailed insights enriching service development studies and significantly improving network efficiency. The use of big data and the analysis of marine transport passenger patterns has provided greater flexibility in preparing and executing the seasonal network initiative, applying a well-thought-out methodology that includes predictive analysis to study and analyze network data and anticipate the impact of changes on operational schedules, trip frequencies, passenger numbers, occupancy rates, and revenues.
