Malfunction in the direction of an escalator suddenly reversing at the Otyulu metro station in İzmir, Turkey, caused 11 people to lose their balance and sustain minor injuries. Surveillance footage shows individuals falling down as one person tried to move quickly in the opposite direction. Health teams swiftly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to nearby hospitals for further medical evaluation. A written statement from the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality regarding the incident noted: "Maintenance and servicing of the escalators at the Otyulu metro station were conducted on June 30, one day before the malfunction." It added: "Technical teams from the metro company and experts from the İzmir branch of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers are working together to determine the cause of the malfunction, and legal investigations have also commenced."
