Defense ministers from NATO member countries have agreed on a plan to mandate the alliance with managing arms supplies to Ukraine, with the final decision to be made at the upcoming NATO summit in Washington next month. This was reported by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference following the defense ministers' meeting in Brussels, where he stated: "We have agreed on a plan that outlines how NATO will manage assistance and training. This will allow efforts to begin in this direction at the summit in June/July." According to Stoltenberg, NATO bodies located in Wiesbaden, Germany will coordinate arms supplies to Ukraine. However, Stoltenberg acknowledged that the defense ministers did not agree on a commitment to allocate $40 billion annually for the long-term supply of arms to Kyiv. In response to a question about Italy and several NATO members' rejection of this proposal, he said: "We still have work to do to agree on our positions regarding the size of long-term financial assistance and the issue of Ukraine's membership before the Washington summit."
