Kuwaiti preacher Othman Al-Khamees stated that Jabir ibn Hayyan is a fictional character and that there is no person by that name. He added in a video clip, "It has not been mentioned if he had all these books and sciences," continuing, "This is a fictional character, and this person is not recognized."
Othman Al-Khamees's remarks have sparked widespread controversy, with one Twitter user commenting, "Jabir ibn Hayyan is a real and well-known figure; his books are acknowledged by scholars, and there are translated books about his life and works." Jabir ibn Hayyan, also known as Abu Abdullah al-Kufi al-Azdi, was recognized as a scholar excelling in chemistry, astronomy, engineering, mineralogy, philosophy, medicine, and pharmacy, and he is considered the first to use chemistry practically in history.
