Houthi-affiliated media reported today, Wednesday, that airstrikes targeted Taiz Governorate. A security source clarified that "the American-British aggression launched two airstrikes on the governorate." The Houthi group, allied with Iran, has been conducting attacks on international shipping near Yemen since November in solidarity with the Palestinians in the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement (Hamas). The Houthi attacks have prompted the United States and Britain to launch retaliatory strikes and have disrupted global trade, leading ship owners to alter their routes away from the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, opting for a longer path around the southern tip of Africa.
