A senior political source told the Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Anbaa" that there will not be any serious movement soon regarding the presidential file, for several reasons, primarily the need to achieve a truce in Gaza, and subsequently waiting for internal breakthroughs among the parties, depending on their calculations of gain and loss from the results of the Gaza war. The source ruled out any positive development regarding convening meetings for consultation or dialogue in the absence of a parliamentary majority that would enable those calling for it to achieve their goals.
Regarding the opposition team, the source said that the initiative to gather a parliamentary majority is not available as long as they have not decided to abandon their support for the head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh. The convergence that occurred last year between opposition parties and some close to the axis revolved around the name of former Minister Jihad Azour, and this can happen again at any time, but not for the openly backed candidate of the opposition, Franjieh.
The source considered that Hezbollah will not replace Franjieh's candidacy unless it identifies a candidate who has a significant level of trust. The source mentioned trusted individuals by the party, one of whom has a significant position in a known entitle, at a time when everyone refrained from taking a step that did not reach half of what the relevant individual undertook.
