Have you ever wondered what President Joe Biden and others would look like in the world of "Barbie"? The answer lies with journalist Duncan Thompson, 53, who broke into hysterical laughter while using an AI application to help him reshape dolls with the features of celebrities inspired by the Barbie universe, as part of a campaign titled "Barbiefication." Thompson asked after the buzz surrounding the film, "Who wouldn't want to be part of this pink world?"
To bring these famous characters to life in plastic form, he used the complex AI program Midjourney, which responds to user prompts and commands, generating images by referencing billions of images online. Thompson explained that this process took some time, as the AI requires highly specific commands with "absolute description." Fortunately, the independent project proved profitable as he was able to create a diverse array of celebrity dolls.
Perhaps the highlight was the reimagining of U.S. President Joe Biden as Ken. Other notable figures included former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in a pink suit, as well as Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, who appeared distinctive, former U.S. President Barack Obama, and British Prince William. The British journalist summarized it: "Creating these images is a great joy, so I thought I would give everyone a burst of pink and 'Barbie' for the whole world."
