Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of the dangerous situation on the front in the Kharkiv region. Zelensky stated that fierce battles are taking place in border areas of the region, where thousands have been forced to flee their homes and villages after Russia began its offensive since Friday. The Ukrainian president clarified, “Defensive battles and intense fighting continue over a large part of our border.” He noted that "the attacks in the Kharkiv region aim to exhaust our forces and undermine the morale of Ukrainians and their ability to defend themselves." Earlier today, Oleg Sinegubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region, said via social media that "a total of 4,073 people have been evacuated." The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that it has gained control of four additional towns in the Kharkiv region, near Russia, after two days of Moscow's ground operation in this area. The ministry stated in a statement, "Units from the 'Northern Group' have advanced," adding that these forces have taken control of the towns of Gatiščhe, Krasnoy, Morukhivtsi, and Olenikovo in the Kharkiv region. The Russian military confirmed yesterday that it had taken control of six Ukrainian villages, five of which are in the Kharkiv region.
