Raghad Saddam Hussein's Speech Sparks Reactions on Father's Execution Anniversary

Activists on social media circulated an audio clip of Raghad, the daughter of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, commemorating the anniversary of his execution on December 30, 2006, criticizing the rule of "the sons of Persian Iran" after 2003. Raghad stated in her speech published on her page on the "X" platform: "Today marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of my father, President Saddam Hussein, may God have mercy on him, a day that many free people in the world commemorate. My father maintained the dignity of Iraq and Iraqis until the last moment of his life, being a strong, patient believer who upheld all his values and principles."

She added, "It has become clear to everyone the lies of America and the West and the ambitions of the Persians in the Arab lands without exception. This direction was clear and understandable for Iraq, and we fought a long war against them, the Qadisiyah of Saddam for eight years, during which the Iraqis offered many martyrs defending their land and nation. We have criticized some for that war and that stance until the rule of Iraq after 2003 fell to the sons of Persian Iran in direction, creed, and upbringing, leaving the Iraqi arena devoid of all meanings of dignity and freedom."

She noted, "From here, with the awareness and realization of the Iraqi street, voices began to rise, remembering their leader President Saddam Hussein, which annoys them all, just as my appearances on television screens have irritated them. They began inventing stories and rumors, with each tale more absurd than the last; one time it was about terrorism, even though terrorism is a word and situation that emerged after their ominous arrival, and another time it was the Spiker tragedy that would make even those in the cradle laugh. If only they had preoccupied themselves with the civilized Iraq, it would be among the advanced and prestigious nations."

She continued, "I have become their target, and the mockery of calling for me has varied with wicked ideas, the latest being my sentencing to seven years in prison, as if the enemies of Iraq and the wicked have ended and resolved all of Iraq's problems and current issues and are no longer ashamed of their lies before the world. Indeed, God is the one we should fear. Today, my determination to proceed on my path of truth and assured victory has increased, with God's permission."

She further stated, "Today I address the Arab brothers in decision-making positions and call upon them not to leave any opportunity for any mercenary agent to be treated as a historical hero, like the traitor who handed the president over to the occupier in exchange for a handful of dollars, with which he bought some weak consciences. All of this is detailed in the memoirs of President Saddam in his own handwriting about the family of the traitor."
