Court Decision on Alec Baldwin Two Years After Killing Incident

Court Decision on Alec Baldwin Two Years After Killing Incident

More than two years after the killing, a court in New Mexico has dismissed the lawsuit against American actor Alec Baldwin, who was accused of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of "Rust" in 2021. The judge announced that "the court agrees to the request to close the case without the right of reconsideration," while the lawyers requested the case to be dismissed, noting that the prosecution had withheld information regarding the guns associated with the incident. The court determined that rejecting the case would be the "only guaranteed solution," meaning that the prosecutor's office would not be able to appeal to the same authority again with the same charges.

Prosecutors revealed that Baldwin had been reckless in handling firearms during filming and had neglected to test them for safety. Baldwin insisted that he did not pull the trigger of the gun but that it went off accidentally, which prosecutors questioned. It is noted that on October 21, 2021, Baldwin fired a gun while rehearsing on the set of the Western film "Rust," which turned out not to be loaded with blanks but with live ammunition, resulting in the death of Ukrainian-born cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and seriously injuring director Joel Souza.
