Egyptian Fatwa on the Power and Traits of a Sorcerer

The fatwa issued by Ayida Osman, a fatwa secretary at the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta, states that "the sorcerer has disbelieved in God to manipulate the devil." He explained that the more the sorcerer is corrupt and follows the devil, the more impactful the magic they perform will be. During a program, the fatwa secretary mentioned, "For magic to be strong, one must commit a sin that disbelieves in God and remain in that state continuously until the devil comes to them."

He warned against these matters, emphasizing that "sorcery is a path of evil, so how can a sorcerer benefit you when they disbelieve in God?" He added that "anyone with problems in their life tends to blame everything on magic," pointing out that "this attitude is far from faith and trust in God." The fatwa secretary confirmed that "whether it's magic or envy, it will not harm you except by God's permission, and one should seek refuge in God rather than consulting a sorcerer."
