The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced the dismantling of an international human organ trafficking network in Najaf province. The agency stated in a report that its specialized organized crime units in Najaf Al-Ashraf monitored accurate intelligence indicating the presence of suspects connected to individuals in neighboring countries involved in trafficking human organs (kidneys) for financial gain.
It added that an intelligence task force was immediately formed, leading to the arrest of three suspects from the network after obtaining the necessary judicial approvals. During the investigation, they openly confessed to their affiliation with an international human organ trafficking network in exchange for monetary compensation. They were subsequently referred to the relevant judicial authorities to receive their just punishment.
