Arrest of a Drug Trafficking Gang in Baghdad

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced today, Friday, the arrest of a gang involved in drug trafficking and use in the Karada area of Baghdad. The ministry stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "a force from the third brigade of the first federal police division, along with intelligence units and a team from the anti-narcotics office, succeeded in capturing a gang consisting of six suspects wanted by the judiciary under the provisions of Article 28 (Narcotics) in the Karada area of Baghdad."

It added that "the arrest operation took place after surrounding their location and engaging in an exchange of gunfire, which resulted in their encirclement and arrest, during which (71 grams of marijuana, an electronic scale, and a Chevrolet vehicle) were seized." The ministry confirmed that "the suspects and the seized items were duly referred to the relevant authorities."
