Mohammed bin Zayed Begins First Visit to China Since Assuming Presidency

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed has begun a visit to Beijing, marking his first trip to China since taking office. This was reported by the UAE news agency on the eve of the commencement of the "Arab-China Forum" in Beijing, which will include participation from four Arab leaders, including bin Zayed.

The UAE agency stated that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed "arrived in Beijing today for a two-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping." It added that he is accompanied by a high-level official delegation that includes ministers of foreign affairs, energy and infrastructure, industry and advanced technology, investment, as well as a minister of state for foreign trade.

This is Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed's first visit to China since he assumed the presidency in 2022 and comes as both countries celebrate the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 1984. He arrived in Beijing from Seoul, where he held discussions with his South Korean counterpart Yoon Suk Yeol.

The "Arab-China Forum" will take place on Thursday, involving leaders from the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, and Tunisia, where both Arab and Chinese sides will discuss ways to enhance their relations. This forum was established in 2004 at the initiative of the late Chinese President Hu Jintao during his visit to the Arab League headquarters in Cairo at that time. The forum includes China and 22 members of the Arab League, aiming to promote dialogue, cooperation, and support peace and development.
