The Federal Integrity Commission in Iraq announced today, Wednesday, the implementation of an arrest warrant against the former Director of the Electricity Distribution Directorate in Salahuddin Province. The Commission's media and government communication office stated that “the Integrity Commission executed the arrest warrant against the director of the electricity distribution directorate after a team from the Salahuddin investigation office uncovered violations and forgery in a project for supplying electrical materials for network maintenance across the province amounting to (14,317,875,000) dinars.”
It was clarified that “the contract signed by the province with one of the general contracting companies was part of the program for restoring stability and reconstructing the liberated cities in 2019.” Furthermore, the team’s investigations revealed that the accused directed a forged letter to the planning and follow-up directorate in the provincial council just two days after the contract was signed, which included approval for the third advance payment for the project, claiming that “the completion rate was (78%),” which led to the disbursement of an amount of (3,000,000,000) dinars, without supplying any materials from the contract.”
It was explained that “the accounts department in the provincial council conducted a settlement and paid all remaining dues to the company before the contract materials, amounting to (2,919,400,000) dinars, were supplied, although materials worth (6,420,854,000) dinars were delivered only six months after the total amount of the contract was paid.” It was also noted that “this was based on directions and pressure from the former Salahuddin governor, as the project belonged to him and was managed by one of his relatives, according to the statements of the accused director of the electricity distribution directorate.”
