Samsung Plans to Add Instant Translation Feature to WhatsApp

Samsung intends to add an instant translation feature, utilizing its proprietary "Galaxy AI" technologies, to the popular WhatsApp application. Samsung initially introduced the "Live Translate" feature with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. This feature enables users to directly translate phone calls using AI mechanisms that operate across supported devices.

Later, Samsung provided the instant translation feature in some other Galaxy devices that support the One UI 6.1 update released in recent months. Recent leaks indicate that the "instant translation" feature will extend beyond the default phone application on Samsung devices and will also function in other third-party applications such as WhatsApp, as well as Google Meet, WeChat, Telegram, and others, according to "Tech Gateway," as reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business."

This feature is expected to benefit millions of users who rely on messaging and online calling applications for daily communication to overcome language barriers. Notably, some applications, such as Telegram, allow users to translate text messages only into their preferred language without the need for external tools.

These leaks coincide with the upcoming "Samsung Unpacked" event scheduled for July 10 at the Louvre Museum in Paris, where many new devices are expected to be unveiled, including the foldable phones Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, as well as the new Galaxy Watch 7, among other anticipated products. It is also expected that Samsung will reveal new features for its AI technologies, referred to as "Galaxy AI," with the One UI 6.1.1 user interface update that will come pre-installed on its new foldable devices and be made available for some other devices.
