The President of the Federal Integrity Commission, Judge Haidar Hanoon, emphasized today, Wednesday, that when Imam Ali assumed the "caliphate," he fought against the governors and senior officials who spent the people's money on their pleasures. He noted that Imam Ali strengthened freedom of expression and defended the oppressed.
In his speech at the ceremony organized by the commission on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir, Hanoon stated, "Imam Ali immediately began administrative reforms upon assuming the caliphate, which involved dismissing corrupt governors and senior officials who monopolized public funds and spent the people's money on their indulgences, replacing them with honest individuals."
He added, "The mechanisms he established to implement justice include transparency in governance and the judiciary, which entails applying the principle of 'Where did you get this from?' He also advocated for freedoms and freedom of expression, even if it opposed him, provided there was no violence or armed conflict."
Hanoon further noted, "Imam Ali carried out some duties related to state affairs, such as overseeing public morality personally, going to marketplaces, reprimanding violators, and holding them accountable, in addition to imposing strict penalties in line with his penal policy based on the justice foundations outlined by Islamic law."
He underscored "the importance of raising awareness of responsibilities among the general public and elites, and his efforts to make reason prevail over emotion, allowing one's understanding to resonate with heartfelt feelings that align with the conscience and awaken it."
