Members of the Civil Defense, supported by vehicles from multiple centers, in collaboration with local authorities in Akkar, and with the assistance of a helicopter from the Air Force of the army, managed, after efforts that lasted since 11:20 AM today, to extinguish the fires that broke out in vast areas of forest trees in the town of Bzal in Akkar, according to a statement from the Civil Defense. The team faced several challenges, notably the lack of access roads to the fire site and the strong winds that caused the fire to spread.
The efforts were successful in preventing the flames from reaching homes, as they had come close to two residential units. Meanwhile, the team continues cooling operations to ensure that the fire does not reignite.
