Jumblatt Offers Condolences for Graziano: He Worked to Implement Resolution 1701

Former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, sent a message of condolence to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres following the death of the former head of the peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, General Claudio Graziano. In his message, Jumblatt expressed, "With deep sadness and sorrow, we received the news of the death of the former head of the peacekeeping forces in Lebanon - UNIFIL, General Claudio Graziano, who played an effective role in maintaining security in the south from 2007 to 2010, and sought to implement Resolution 1701, which Israel repeatedly violated." He added, "As we remember General Graziano and his commitment to the stability of the south in the face of Israeli aggression, it is very concerning these days that the serious escalation of aggression against Lebanon and the Palestinian people continues without the international community and its institutions being able to stop this aggression." Jumblatt concluded his message by offering condolences to Guterres, the leadership of UNIFIL, the Italian state, and the family of the deceased.
