Agriculture Announces 176 Investment Opportunities Across Iraq

The Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture announced today, Monday, 176 investment opportunities throughout Iraq, clarifying the mechanism for granting approvals for investment opportunities. In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Director General of the Agricultural Investment Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Iyad Al-Bulani, said, "Investment opportunities under Iraqi law are open to both Iraqis and foreigners with many advantages, akin to Investment Law No. 13 of 2006, as amended."

Al-Bulani added that "the ministry has presented 176 opportunities across Iraq, and a team has been formed by a ministerial order to distribute these opportunities among investors," emphasizing that "the approvals for granting investment opportunities in the agricultural sector fall under the Investment Commissions and not the Agricultural Investment Department."

He pointed out that "the Agricultural Investment Department conducts feasibility studies for projects referred for investment after the relevant approvals specific to the agricultural sector," noting that "there are 280 dunams in the deserts of Karbala that provide significant space for investors to innovate in multiple areas simultaneously, such as agriculture, livestock, poultry, dairy factories, slaughterhouses, and other important projects."

He mentioned that "the approvals for obtaining such opportunities are coordinated between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Investment Department in the provinces, the Investment Commission, and the Real Estate Department under the Ministry of Finance, to establish an investment project."
