The Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alperen Birecik, announced that his country has resumed electricity exports to Iraq starting yesterday, Sunday. Birecik stated, "As of yesterday, we have resumed electricity exports to Iraq with whom we will contribute to the prosperity and peace of our region through the Development Road project." He added, "Through the investments we will make, we will turn the Development Road project into an energy route as well." Iraq has been suffering from a electricity shortage for decades, producing between 19,000 and 21,000 megawatts of electrical energy, while the actual demand exceeds 30,000, leading to frequent power outages.
