Egypt: 10 Years Imprisonment for the Father of Alaa Mubarak's Wife in Gas Consumers' Funds Case

The Egyptian judiciary has sentenced Magdy Rasikh, the father of Alaa Mubarak's wife, and Hossam Reda Ghanina to 10 years in prison in the gas consumers' funds case. The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Magdy Rasikh and Hossam Reda Ghanina for their involvement in embezzling over one billion Egyptian pounds from gas consumers' funds.

The ruling was issued under the presidency of Counselor Magdy Abdel Bari, with the membership of counselors Mohamed Abdel Hakim Radwan, Hussein Abdel Raouf, and secretaries Rgab Shaaban and Mohamed Alaa. It is noteworthy that earlier, the investigative authorities had referred Mohamed Magdy Hussein Rasikh, former chairman of the "National Gas" company, Mohamed Hani Ahmed Mohamed Farid, former chairman of the "National Gas" company, the current CEO, and Hossam Reda Ghanina, former chairman of the "National Gas" company, for criminal trial for their failure to pay an amount exceeding one billion Egyptian pounds, which is owed to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation for gas collected from consumers.
