Israel Approves Largest Land Expropriation in the West Bank in Over Three Decades

Israel has approved the expropriation of 12.7 square kilometers of land in the West Bank, which a non-governmental organization noted is the largest expropriation in three decades. A statement from the organization "Peace Now" mentioned that the land, which Israel designated as "state land" last June, is located in the Jordan Valley. With this expropriation, the total area that Israel has declared as "state land" since the beginning of the year rises to 23.7 square kilometers. The organization clarified in a statement that "the area covered by the announcement is the largest since the Oslo Accords in 1993, and 2024 is expected to be the peak year for declaring specific areas as state land." According to "Peace Now," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich are "determined to confront the entire world and act against the interests of the Israeli people for the benefit of a handful of settlers."
