On Friday, the relevant investigative authorities decided to release the "Gold Emperor" in Al-Jamaleya after his arrest in January. Some social media pages circulated news congratulating "Romani A." and "Ashraf M." following their release, as they are two of the largest raw gold traders in the area. The security forces apprehended one of the most famous raw gold traders, known in the Al-Jamaleya area as the "Gold Emperor," who faced serious accusations related to gold transactions.
The security forces succeeded in arresting members of a criminal gang in Minya, who specialized in counterfeiting and promoting local and foreign currencies as well as official documents. Information and investigations by the General Security Sector, in cooperation with the Minya Security Directorate, confirmed that a gang comprising four individuals was engaged in trading and promoting counterfeit foreign currency and forging official papers and documents, using an apartment in Minya city as their crime scene.
After legal procedures were followed, the gang members were arrested, and over $35,000 in "counterfeit" currency, 143,500 Egyptian pounds in "counterfeit" currency, the tools used for forgery, several forged documents, and a quantity of blank paper for printing banknotes were seized, along with a "forged" driving license and a "clutch" belonging to a governmental entity. Legal measures were taken.
This comes as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Interior's agencies to combat crime in all its forms, especially crimes related to counterfeiting and selling local and foreign currencies.
Investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Giza Security Directorate, led by Major General Hani Shaarawy, revealed the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a crime victim who was found tied by the feet and showing signs of torture, lying on the road in 6th of October City. Investigations led by Major Mohamed Magdy, the head of the investigations, and his assistant Captain Ahmed Fayez, found that three individuals were responsible for the incident, and the victim had stolen a car tire belonging to one of them from inside a storage facility.
The incident began with a report to the First October Police Station in Giza Security Directorate regarding the discovery of a body of an individual tied by the feet, showing bruises and cuts across the body within the jurisdiction. The efforts of the General Security Sector, in collaboration with the Giza Security Directorate, identified the victim as a known offender residing in one of the garages within the jurisdiction, with the three perpetrators also residing in the same area.
After legal procedures were taken, they were arrested, and upon confrontation, they admitted to the crime after discovering that the victim had stolen a tire belonging to one of the accused from inside the storage facility owned by one of them. Upon seeing the victim, they took him inside a car driven by one of them and assaulted him. While trying to extract information about the stolen tire, he fell into a state of exhaustion, prompting them to put him in the car trunk and dump him at the reported location. Legal actions were taken.
