Funeral of Sheikh Al-Zindani in Istanbul with Participation of President Erdoğan

In the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a grand funeral was held in Istanbul for Sheikh Abdul Majid Al-Zindani and the leader of the Ismail Aga Sufi group, Sheikh Hasan Effendi. The Sultan Mehmet Fatih Mosque in Istanbul was crowded with thousands of scholars, preachers, students of knowledge, and members of the Arab community on Tuesday evening to perform the funeral prayer and bid farewell to Sheikh Al-Zindani and Sheikh Hasan Kiliç, who passed away the previous day.

The courtyard of the mosque and the Fatih area were filled with large crowds as part of a popular Islamic farewell ceremony for the two prominent scholars, where worshippers performed the funeral prayer for the deceased. Following the prayer for the two esteemed figures, thousands participated in a large funeral procession carrying their bodies to the cemetery of the companion Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari in Istanbul.

Al-Zindani and Hasan Effendi had a long-standing scholarly and friendly relationship, spending the latter part of their lives together studying and discussing issues related to the Muslim community, remaining united even in death and their funeral. Al-Zindani, former president of Al-Iman University and member of the Shura Council of Reform, passed away in a hospital in Istanbul at the age of 82 after a battle with illness, while Sheikh Hasan Effendi died at the age of 94.
