A Saudi delegation participated in a scientific event organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), led by Khalid Al-Abdulqader, the CEO of the Center for Vegetation Cover. The event, titled "Restoration of Forests and Lands," discussed the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in conjunction with World Forestry Week. The aim was to highlight the importance of forests in land restoration and to pave the way towards neutralizing land degradation, along with ways to support these efforts by the organization. The event took place at the FAO headquarters in Rome and included a number of specialists and experts in desertification issues. The delegation featured representatives from the National Center for Environmental Compliance, the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and various governmental bodies concerned with combatting desertification, alongside the permanent representative of the Kingdom to the organization, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi.
