After Reviewing the Report of a Summer School Promoting "Deviance"... Here's What Was Found

After Reviewing the Report of a Summer School Promoting

The media office of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education issued the following statement: "After the spread of news and positions regarding the activities associated with the summer school, which its promoters claimed encouraged deviance and offended Lebanese values, Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Halabi tasked the Director General of Education and the Head of the Educational Center for Research and Development to conduct an additional review of the content of the activity box designated for the summer school students, including exercises, games, and activities. It was found from this review that the book, the pages of which were shared on social media, is available in Canada among groups that embrace sexual selection, and it is not present at all in the activity bag designated for the summer school or in any private school. Minister Halabi reassured that there is no element that offends ethics and values or conflicts with the spirit of the applicable laws and the essence of religious and spiritual beliefs."

The statement emphasized that "the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as the Educational Center for Research and Development, respect the laws and are vigilant in examining the content of any educational activity before allowing it to be included in schools and activities." It expressed appreciation and thanks to "the Ktebi Project funded by the United States Agency for International Development for its support of the summer school and other very important educational projects." Halabi noted that "the first and second Ktebi projects have been supporting the ministry and the educational center for many years, without any interference from those in charge in the content of curricula, activities, and training, but rather supporting what the ministry and center need in accordance with Lebanese laws and regulations, and the values that govern spiritual, social, and cultural life in Lebanon."

Regarding private educational institutions, the Union of Private Educational Institutions in Lebanon confirmed that "more than ever, it is committed to the educational and ethical principles derived from the teachings of divine religions, and firmly rejects the imposition of foreign ideas that contradict our history, values, and culture in any educational medium." The statement added, "Accordingly, it calls upon the Ministry of Education and all relevant educational officials to carry out their strict oversight responsibility over everything made available to schools in general and specifically to students, in order to ensure the well-being and safety of our authentic Eastern society."
