Members of the "National Moderation" bloc, MPs Walid Baa'rouni, Ahmad Al-Khair, and Ahmad Rustum, along with members of the "New Lebanon" bloc, MPs Imad Al-Hout, Nabil Badr, and Ni'mat Afraam, attended a lunch invitation by presidential envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian at the Pine Palace, in the presence of French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro.
The media office of Al-Khair mentioned that "during the lunch, the presidential file was discussed, and data related to it was exchanged. The course of the National Moderation bloc's initiative aimed at ending the vacancy in the presidency was presented, along with the obstacles it faced regarding who calls for consultations, who heads them, and how to work on overcoming these challenges."
It was noted that during the meeting, "it was confirmed that the National Moderation bloc, through its ongoing initiative, complements the appreciated French efforts, along with the efforts of the Quintet Committee and what was contained in its recent statement. It engages positively and openly with all internal efforts being made to seize any favorable opportunity to end the presidential vacancy and reach solutions that satisfy all parties, pushing towards consensus in a delicate and sensitive phase where we urgently need to fortify Lebanon's situation and position amidst local pressures and rapidly evolving regional and international developments, especially with the major settlement projects and the race between ceasefire efforts and the continuation of the war in Gaza."
