Israeli Channel 12 reported that "the Israeli army has begun to transfer its forces to the north." The channel stated that estimates indicate we are nearing a decisive moment with Lebanon. This information comes at a time when Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that he discussed with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan the necessity of changing the security situation along the border with Lebanon.
In contrast, the White House stated: "We do not want to see a new front of war between Lebanon and Israel, and we do not believe that this serves the interest of any party." They added: "We are working hard to calm the situation on Israel's northern border through diplomatic means."
Meanwhile, UN humanitarian coordinator Martin Griffiths expressed concern about the potential widening of the Israeli war from Gaza to Lebanon and Syria. He warned that "a war involving Lebanon will drag Syria into it, which in turn could bring in others, and it will certainly have repercussions on Gaza, as well as on the West Bank."
For his part, European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell emphasized that "Lebanon, Israel, and the region cannot afford another war."
