Title: Daughter of U.S. Vice President's Husband Among Major Supporters for Gaza

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris announced today that Israel must make greater efforts to protect Palestinian civilians following the high number of casualties in Gaza. Has her husband's daughter changed her views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? About a month ago, Harris stated that Ella Emhoff, her husband's daughter, is an activist in a public fundraising campaign for Gaza, according to a report published by the New York Post. Emhoff, who is originally Jewish, posted the appeal on her Instagram page, which has 315,000 followers.

The Jerusalem Post, which reported this news from the New York Post, noted that Emhoff did not mention the Hamas attack that occurred on October 7, which "killed Israeli children," referring to the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation carried out by Hamas. The Israeli newspaper pointed out that Emhoff limited her remarks to stating that this campaign is "to support emergency relief for children in Gaza."

While it is unclear if she personally donated to the campaign run by the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund, the newspaper reported that the campaign has raised $7.8 million so far. The report mentioned that the organization collecting funds is a Palestinian charity based in Kent, Ohio, which successfully raised $21 million for its causes in 2021. Commenting on this matter, Congressman Jeff Van Drew, a Republican from New Jersey, stated that "this is extremely concerning."
