Arrest of Three Members of a Gang Responsible for Motorcycle Theft in the Suburb

The Directorate General of Internal Security Forces announced that "as part of the daily monitoring carried out by the Internal Security Forces to limit motorcycle thefts in various Lebanese regions, the Information Branch tracked a gang committing thefts in the southern suburb area. Consequently, the specialized units of the branch initiated field and investigative measures to identify and arrest the gang members. Following extensive investigations and inquiries, their identities were established, including three Syrians: M. N. (born in 2007), F. A. (approximately 13 years old), and A. S. (approximately 15 years old).

On June 6, 2024, following precise surveillance, a patrol from the branch arrested the first individual in the Lailaki area while riding a “Sweets” motorcycle, which was found to be stolen and was seized. The second and third individuals were arrested red-handed in the Hazmieh area - inside the City Center parking lot - while attempting to steal a “Sweets” motorcycle from the parking lot. Upon searching them and the motorcycle, the first individual was found in possession of a bullet, two motorcycle keys, and a sum of money.

During the investigation, they confessed to their participation in thefts of motorcycles from the southern suburbs and the surrounding City Center, for a fee of $50 for each theft per person, which they handed over to a fourth individual for resale. Legal action was taken against them, and they, along with the seized items and the motorcycle, were handed over to the appropriate authorities, with efforts ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects."
