Launch of the First Smart Electric Vehicle Charging Network in Lebanon

Launch of the First Smart Electric Vehicle Charging Network in Lebanon

Under the slogan "Charge Anywhere Because Our Energy Never Cuts You Off," the president of the "Indevco" industrial group, MP Neemat Afram, launched the first smart electric vehicle charging network "EV Zone" in Lebanon. This initiative aims to foster a sustainable environment and is a result of collaboration between "Phoenix Energy," a member of the Indevco group, and "IPT" Energy Center, chaired by Dr. Tony Issa.

MP Neemat Afram addressed the attending ministers and deputies, stating, "The responsibility upon us today is very significant," pointing out that "experiences have taught us to turn every crisis and catastrophe into an opportunity and success." He cited the example of how Phoenix produced medical ventilators during a time of need, something Mediterranean countries could not achieve.

In an interview, Afram emphasized that "this network will bring about a radical transformation of the transportation sector in Lebanon," starting with electric cars, with plans to later include electric buses. He expressed hope for the project's success, saying, "I believe that in less than five years, Lebanon will have the largest network in the world with electric charging stations."

According to Afram's plan, within a year, hundreds of electric charging points will be established, with advertisements from restaurants and shopping centers helping to subsidize the cost of kilowatts to attract customers. "In this innovative way, we have transformed the electricity outage crisis and the fuel crisis into an opportunity, with the potential to be pioneers in the use of as many electric cars as possible in Lebanon's beautiful environment."

Tony Issa highlighted the importance of the partnership in diversifying energy sources, especially clean and renewable ones. He said the step aligns with UN decisions regarding energy conservation, as "IPT" transitions from an oil company to an energy company. Issa underscored the need to unite efforts with Phoenix to place Lebanon on the map of countries developing the necessary infrastructure to launch the electric vehicle market.

Issa stressed the importance of using electric cars due to their positive environmental impact, noting that "the more electric cars are used in Lebanon, the lower the polluted emissions will be, contributing to environmental preservation and pollution reduction."

Meanwhile, the president of Phoenix, Rabi Issa, pointed out that "this initiative is based on a smart network that depends on a mobile application to locate the nearest charging point," which will also provide information on duration and cost. He indicated that the charging locations will be spread across various Lebanese regions, particularly in shopping centers, gas stations, and supermarkets.

The event, held at the "Venice" hotel in Beirut, was attended by a large number of political and industrial figures, economic associations, and several deputies, as well as representatives from various organizations and experts. During the ceremony, a documentary film was presented, introducing the goals of both "Phoenix Energy" and "IPT."
