The Security Media Cell announced today, Sunday, that an investigation is underway regarding the circumstances of the terrorist incident in the Dibis district of Kirkuk. The cell stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Following the significant blows and quality operations carried out by our armed forces within their areas of responsibility, which inflicted heavy losses on the elements of the ISIS terrorist group, killing a large number of its leaders, these defeated groups are attempting to prove a presence that will not return, thanks to the military and security forces."
The statement added: "ISIS terrorists attacked at 22:00 yesterday, using light and medium weapons, a point belonging to the 32nd Brigade of the 8th Division of the Iraqi Army near the village of Tal Al-Ward in the Al-Multaqa district of Kirkuk province, resulting in the martyrdom of two officers, one with the rank of Major and the other with the rank of First Lieutenant, and the injury of three soldiers."
It continued, "The Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais Al-Muhamdawi, arrived in Kirkuk to review the incident and visit the injured. A joint investigative committee has also arrived to understand the circumstances and details of the incident and to determine its causes," explaining that "security leaders and concerned parties held a meeting to learn the details of this treacherous incident and gather information to identify the terrorist elements responsible for this cowardly act."
