Sources close to the family of Egyptian artist Tawfik Abdel Hamid have revealed details about his severe health setback, which has worsened due to issues with his foot and back, preventing him from moving at all. The well-known actor suffers from intense pain that keeps him confined to his home, according to a family source who preferred to keep the details private, sharing only with family members, as reported by Cairo 24.
His family had kept his long absence a secret, especially since his last artistic work was the series "Yoturn," which aired during the Ramadan marathon in 2022.
The artist stated on his official Facebook page: "It appears that there is news circulating about the decline of my health that has troubled many friends and fans, and this news is untrue."
Earlier, Tawfik Abdel Hamid announced his retirement from acting, explaining that he is currently facing health conditions that prevent him from accepting the artistic work being offered to him. He wrote on his personal social media account: "My health conditions prevent me from continuing in the acting profession, and therefore I announce my retirement."
It is noteworthy that Tawfik Abdel Hamid participated in the last Ramadan marathon in 2022 with the series "Yoturn," achieving significant popularity at the time. The esteemed artist is one of the most important stars of his generation, having participated in many distinguished works, including the series: "Hadrati Al-Motaham Abi," "Al-Nas Fi Kafr Askar," "Imra’a Min Nar," and "Helm."
