Turkish authorities refused to refuel an Israeli plane that made an emergency landing at Antalya Airport on Sunday. According to details reported by Israeli Channel 12, the aircraft, belonging to Israeli airline "El Al," was en route from Poland to Israel. During the flight, a passenger suffered a medical emergency requiring urgent medical attention, prompting the unscheduled landing in Antalya.
According to the Israeli source, Antalya airport authorities declined to refuel the plane, which would allow it to continue its journey, while negotiations are currently ongoing to resolve the issue. Passengers were informed that they "are expected to spend several hours on the ground in Turkey before receiving permission to leave the plane," according to Channel 12.
Turkey has canceled all direct flights with Israel since the outbreak of the war in Gaza on October 7. Turkey has been one of Israel's harshest critics since the onset of the war, and in May, it announced that it would halt all exports and imports to and from Israel.
