The distinguished Jaafari Mufti, Sheikh Ahmad Qablan, issued a statement saying: "For the national necessity where the south is drenched in the blood of the greatest martyrs, I say to some: This kind of political hostility towards the resistance is no less than the massacres of Zionism in Gaza and Lebanon." He added: "I say candidly to the Lebanese: Lebanon is a victim of political hypocrisy, and some are living in the Zionist era, despite the fact that Lebanon, in its existence and structure, would not have been if it weren't for the greatest and most sacred sacrifices made by the resistance. We want a sovereign Lebanon, not a Zionist Lebanon. Political hypocrisy is a disgrace to its proponents, and side deals care only for family cakes while Lebanon, through its resistance, is engaged in the most dangerous and complex war affecting Lebanon and the region. The greatness of the resistance and the pride of its sacrifices are embodied by the exceptional leader, the historical victor martyr 'Abu Talib.' Even if the resistance had only offered 'Abu Talib,' it would have been enough as a price for the sovereignty and existence of this country." He continued: "We will not hesitate to protect Lebanon and its sovereignty. The resistance today is giant, and its weight is regional; its capabilities are beyond imagination. What it possesses during a large-scale war will dismantle the balance of deterrence in an unprecedented manner. For the record, I say: In any open war, the fate of Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Akka will be worse than that of Kiryat Shmona, and presidential achievement can only pass through a settlement that preserves Lebanon from some of the traders of the country and those who still long for the Zionist era."
