The Free Patriotic Movement has indicated that "in light of the catastrophic turn that the war, which erupted on the 7th of this month between Palestinians and Israelis, has taken, and in the face of the magnitude of the tragedy and the blatant violation of the most basic human rights, the Free Patriotic Movement cannot help but express its deep concern." In a statement, it affirmed its "solidarity with the civilians who have suffered and continue to suffer from the horrific massacres and the machinery of destruction, in their souls, homes, hospitals, and places of worship."
The Free Patriotic Movement condemned "in the strongest terms the transgressions of human dignity that have occurred due to the predominance of the language of hatred, killing, and destruction, which has reached a crazed level, especially with what we are witnessing being used as a means to pressure negotiations aimed at releasing hostages."
The party announced its rejection of "the logic of collective punishment that Gaza is facing, which threatens a new catastrophe due to the attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land and entrench settlement." It called upon "global conscience to return to the logic of 'the power of right,' in order to halt the shedding of more blood and stop the tragedies, thereby helping the Palestinian people to regain initiative and facilitate the pursuit of just solutions to the conflict, starting with a humanitarian truce, followed by the Palestinians releasing hostages in exchange for Israel releasing all its detainees."
The party expressed its fear of "at this very moment, the passing of self-serving deals and the investment of influences among regional and international players, at the cost of the Palestinian people, hence reiterating its call for adhering to Arab solidarity and the two-state solution, away from any ideological guardianship over the just Palestinian cause."
Furthermore, the party warned "against continuing the cycle of injustice and revenge, or stubbornness, or absurd scenarios, which could expand the circle of war to arenas that are influenced by external parties." It called upon "the Lebanese political authority to work through diplomatic means, under the umbrella of international resolutions, especially the total commitment to respecting the implementation of Resolution 1701, which mandates the extension of state sovereignty over our southern borders, in full coordination between the Lebanese army and international forces exclusively, in a manner that ensures Lebanon's neutrality from the ongoing conflict and avoids dragging us into a devastating war that goes out of control and for which we have no capacity to pay the costs."
