Ahmed Saad: I Sang

The Egyptian artist Ahmed Saad revealed the reason behind wearing a mesh shirt and an earring during one of his concerts, which drew significant criticism from the audience on social media platforms. During his interview with media personality Amr Adib and singer Assala on the "Big Time Podcast," broadcasted on MBC and the "Shahid" platform, Saad stated: "I pierced my ear and wore the earring at a time when everyone was doing it."

He added, "Honestly, I pierced my ear for the trend, and I wore the mesh shirt to attract people's attention. That's why I traveled to Italy after the success of my songs and the increasing demand for my concerts, and I asked an Italian stylist to design clothes for me, and that's what happened."

Saad admitted that he made a mistake by not considering the consequences of his actions, stating: "What I did was certainly wrong, but I was surprised by the scale of the backlash against me because the mesh shirt was trending. I thought that to take the whole trend, I would score with the earring, and I went on stage thinking they would start making mesh jalabiyas, but nothing happened."

When asked about who first criticized his appearance, he said: "A friend’s mother called me and said, 'What have you done, man?' I thought she was an old lady who didn't understand fashion, but when I went out, I found the world turned upside down on me."

Saad also shared some funny incidents from his childhood with his family, explaining that he is the seventh among nine siblings, with four brothers and two sisters older than him, and two sisters younger than him. For this reason, he was often tasked with getting household supplies daily. One day, he decided to refuse this order and did not buy the household items. So, his older brother picked him up and threw him out of the house along with the money, prompting him to go immediately to buy the supplies, commenting, "I failed the revolution against my siblings in four seconds."

He also mentioned that the song "You Have Eyes" was sung for his ex-wife Alya Bsyouni and expressed his gratitude for her, recalling the beautiful memories they shared. He sees her as the best wife and the best mother for their child, adding, "Even if we disagree on certain aspects, I cannot deny her contributions to my becoming the successful artist I am today."
