The Turkish Ministry of Defense stated that five workers lost their lives due to an explosion at an explosives factory in the capital, Ankara, on Saturday. The explosion occurred at the rocket and explosives factory operated by the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation. Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin stated, "There are no workers trapped or waiting for rescue or transfer to the hospital." He expressed his condolences on his official Twitter account, saying, "I offer my condolences to the relatives and colleagues of our five workers who died in the explosion." The explosion took place in the rocket and explosives factory affiliated with the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation. Smoke was seen rising after the sound of the explosion in Ankara's Elmadağ district. Firefighters and ambulances were dispatched to the site.
