Messi: Ramos is My Biggest Rival

Lionel Messi, star and captain of Inter Miami, spoke about his career with the Argentine national team and the criticism he faced. In a podcast appearance, Messi said, "I understand almost everything in English... I start to talk slowly. I think I don't speak due to shyness or fear of making mistakes. But now I can start to talk and understand a lot."

He added, "I enjoy my role as a representative and I have enjoyed it... For many years I have been doing advertisements, and each time I enjoy it more. When things are funny and the atmosphere is good, it makes it enjoyable."

He continued: "There are many situations that make me nervous, but I try to hide that. However, even though these moments (advertisements) are for laughter and enjoyment, the tension and desire to do well are present, as there are many cameras and people."

He said, "In the national team, I always shared a room with Aguero, and since he left, I've been in a room by myself. I didn't have a roommate after that."

He added, "I spent my first salary on my family. It was to try to fix the house and arrange things a bit."

Messi reflected, "The rival I had the most encounters with? I don't know, but I think there are several players from Real Madrid. With Sergio Ramos, for example, who later became a teammate, we used to fight a lot; the Clasico was intense."

He remarked, "The most clever insult directed at me? I don't remember a specific one, but at Copa America 2011, they said everything to me and the team; it was very difficult. I don't know if the insults were clever or not, but they cursed me in every way."

He continued, "At night, when Antonela (his wife) and the kids are sleeping, and I'm sitting to watch TV, to follow a match or something like that, sometimes I go down to look for something sweet to eat. I really love sweets."

He concluded, "I look for some chocolate or candy that I find at that moment. This is not every night, but it happens often."
