The Saudi Position on the Palestinian Cause is Firm and Unchanging

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has long affirmed that the Palestinian cause is the primary issue for Arabs, which must be supported and upheld until the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate aspirations and demands for an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Kingdom seizes every opportunity to reaffirm this message to the world, so that everyone knows that Arabs and Muslims stand united for the Palestinian right to return without diminishment.

Notably, the remarks made by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman yesterday, at the opening of the Arab Islamic Summit on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, underscore a firm and enduring truth: the Kingdom is committed to its pledges and steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian cause.

The Crown Prince's words during the summit reflect the Saudi stance on the current situation in Gaza, as he expressed in clear and direct terms that the Kingdom categorically rejects the ongoing aggression and forced displacement of the people in the region. Consequently, Riyadh holds the occupying authorities responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

The severity of the situation in Gaza was encapsulated in the Crown Prince's statement that the convening of this summit occurs under exceptional and painful circumstances for the Kingdom and the Arab and Islamic nations, which reject this brutal war, having claimed the lives of thousands of innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, while hospitals, places of worship, and infrastructure have been destroyed.

The Crown Prince’s words compelled the global community and international institutions to acknowledge their responsibilities, announcing the world's failure to halt this unequal war. He said, "We are faced with a humanitarian disaster that witnesses the failure of the Security Council and the international community in putting an end to the blatant Israeli violations of international laws and humanitarian law, demonstrating double standards in their application, threatening global peace and stability."

These words bore explicit warnings about the consequences of international silence regarding the situation in Gaza and the urgent need for swift and effective action to address this unfortunate circumstance and save the lives of the residents in the region. However, the Crown Prince emphasized that such action must result from collective efforts and coordination involving all parties to ultimately lift the siege, facilitate humanitarian and relief assistance, and secure medical supplies for the sick and injured in Gaza, and above all, to cease the war there.
