The Directorate General for Intelligence and Security in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced today, Thursday, the arrest of "8 individuals wanted for terrorism, drug trafficking, and oil smuggling." A statement from the directorate indicated that "the Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorate was able to capture one terrorist element, six drug dealers and promoters, and another individual accused of smuggling petroleum derivatives in various areas of the capital." It added that "the accused have warrants for their arrest according to the provisions of Article (4 Terrorism, 28 Drugs)," noting that "legal proceedings have been taken against them and they have been referred to the judiciary."
