The European Union's foreign affairs coordinator, Josep Borrell, stated that the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) decision deeming Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories, ongoing for 57 years, as "illegal," is largely in line with the EU's positions. Israel immediately criticized the advisory decision issued by the ICJ in The Hague on Friday, which called for an end to the occupation as soon as possible, claiming it is based on "lies." However, Borrell noted that the bloc has "taken good note" of the court's decision and urged more support for the court's opinion. He added, "In a world witnessing ongoing and increasing violations of international law, it is our moral duty to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to all of the International Court of Justice's decisions in a consistent manner." He further stated that the opinion "will require more careful analysis, including regarding its implications for EU policy."
