President Raisi: Without Iran, Drugs Would Spread Throughout Europe

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi affirmed that his country has raised the banner of serious efforts to combat drug trafficking from the very beginning, but other countries, especially Western ones, have not fulfilled their responsibilities in this regard properly. Raisi stated that "it is necessary to hold these countries accountable and make it clear to them that without Iran's relentless fight against drugs, they would have spread throughout Europe."

During a meeting of the Drug Combat Committee, Raisi praised "the efforts and actions of all participants in this committee and described the fight against drugs as one of the most important issues in the country." He declared that "the extensive confrontation with drugs, from access to distribution, as well as the issue of addiction due to its serious social, cultural, and economic harms, should not diminish and become something normal."

He emphasized that "drug combat leadership must be based on the experiences gained over four decades of comprehensive fighting against this social harm and work through a practical vision to address this issue seriously, fundamentally, and innovatively, creating noticeable progress in responsibilities and developing a specific performance."

He noted that "despite all the statistics confirming the successful progress made in combating drug trafficking and abuse, we should not be satisfied with these successes in any way." Raisi regarded "the decisions approved at this meeting and the reforms carried out in recent years in the processes and procedures of the Drug Combat Committee as good, but insufficient in terms of the effectiveness of this committee and its officials," and emphasized the importance and necessity of reviewing past performance and having a comprehensive vision from this committee.

It is worth mentioning that during the meeting, five decisions were approved to enhance the measures of the Drug Combat Committee and make it more effective in combating drug trafficking and abuse.
