Starbucks is facing a lawsuit for the third time, accused of stealing the concept for a lip balm and gloss flavored with coffee. The lawsuit was filed by the company Palmuchino on Friday in a Manhattan federal court. This lawsuit follows a similar case that a federal judge in Seattle dismissed in July 2023 for procedural reasons, marking the second lawsuit rejected by the court. Palmuchino stated that it began developing coffee-flavored lip balms in 2016 and presented prototypes and other confidential information in a meeting held in October 2018 at Starbucks' New York office. They allege that Starbucks "stole" their fully developed lip balm idea by launching a range of coffee-flavored products in April 2019. This prompted Palmuchino to file a previous lawsuit against Starbucks in Los Angeles in October 2019.
