The Minister of Culture in the caretaker government, Muhammad Wisam Al-Murtada, issued an order last night to remove a sign bearing the "Blue Shield" logo that had been placed during the day on a wall at the Baalbek Fortress by an employee there, in accordance with an international agreement to protect cultural property during armed conflict. Al-Murtada stated, "The atrocities in Gaza have proven that such a 'shield' protects nothing. What protects Lebanon and its people, as well as its private and public properties, is our valiant army and our capable resistance, our solid shield, which has made the Israeli enemy certain that any harm to us will bring upon them calamities they cannot bear." He added, "There are those who mistakenly placed that logo, thinking that invoking international agreements and taking refuge in them would protect us and our archaeological sites, but the reality is that these agreements have faded, erased by the blood of the children of Gaza that has been shed by Israel and its supporters."
