Russian news agency "Interfax" reported today, Thursday, that the Ministry of Defense stated a Russian military helicopter of the MiG-28 model crashed in the Kaluga region southwest of Moscow, resulting in the death of its crew. The ministry indicated that a technical failure is likely the cause of the incident. The ministry did not specify the number of people on board, but the crew of such a helicopter typically consists of two members. The "MiG-28 NM" represents a new generation of Russian attack helicopters, capable of operating in all weather conditions and performing a variety of missions including destroying armored vehicles, striking low-altitude air targets, as well as conducting aerial reconnaissance and target designation for other helicopters and aircraft.
